WHY WE EXIST
Our culture is saturated with distractions, information and technology. Despite this fact, we believe we are all seeking ways to elevate our mind, spirits and consciousness through real experiences. If we measure life by the singular moments and the events we experience, how often do we experience something truly memorable and transformative? How often are we changed by a lightning bolt of inspiration, or a piercing revelation?
The Uplift Project is a wellness production company that creates and executes what our client's envision for their events so they can focus on their content and sharing their knowledge. We are thoughtful and impeccable with details, from schedule to food and ambiance, and provide a comfortable and luxurious experience for all involved. We began in 2015 with a series of retreats and events that created positive, transformative and life-changing experiences featuring some of the world’s leading thinkers, practitioners and provocateurs. These experiences provided individuals with new and relevant skills in order to reset and uplift themselves.
As co-founder of The Uplift Project, Andrea Praet curates and produces events and experiences that are transformative for the mind, body and spirit. She is also the NYC head of production for The Shine Movement, a mindful variety show that inspires individuals to do more, be more, give more. At times, she collaborates with creative agency Range on seasonal wellness trend direction for clients within the active and outdoor industries.
Previously, she was a senior trend director for world-renowned agencies such as Promostyl, Stylesight and WGSN for over a decade. As senior trend director, she worked with an international array of Fortune 500 companies to inspire and inform their creative endeavors, interpreting and presenting seasonal trend and color forecasts.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Katia came to New York City in 2005 to pursue graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at Columbia University. Upon graduating she served chronically mentally ill adults and later children in foster care before transitioning into private practice in 2010. Currently Katia runs a practice in Williamsburg, Brooklyn focusing on individual psychotherapy. In addition to various therapeutic modalities, she incorporates into her work teachings from the Vedas- ancient Indian scriptures- as interpreted by the Shankaracharya tradition. Katia began working alongside Maharishi (or pre-eminent master-teacher) Thom Knoles, in 2012 managing his public teaching and appearances in the US, Canada, India and Europe. Inspired by a retreat to India with their teacher, Thom, in early 2015, Katia and Andrea Praet began collaborating ideas surrounding lifestyle, consciousness, well-being and community- hence The Uplift Project was born.
